The rules that govern your use of AltarNotes
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and AltarNotes ("we," "us," or "our") governing your access to and use of the AltarNotes mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"). Please read them carefully.
By downloading, installing, or using AltarNotes, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
If you are using AltarNotes on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
You must be at least 13 years old (or 16 in the European Economic Area) to use AltarNotes. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this age requirement. If you are under 18, you represent that a parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
You may use AltarNotes as a guest without registering. However, a guest account is tied to your device and your data may be lost if you uninstall the app. We recommend creating a full account to keep your sermon library safe.
When you create an account, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
You must notify us immediately at support@altarnotes.com if you become aware of any unauthorised access to your account. We will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your credentials.
AltarNotes provides the following features:
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of significant changes.
AltarNotes Pro is a paid subscription available on a monthly or annual basis. Subscriptions are purchased and managed through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, and are subject to their respective terms and billing policies.
Subscription fees are charged at the start of each billing period. We do not handle payment card details directly — all billing is managed by Apple or Google on your device.
We may offer a free trial period for AltarNotes Pro. At the end of the trial, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan unless you cancel before the trial ends.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will retain Pro access until that date. Refunds are subject to the refund policies of Apple or Google, not AltarNotes.
Note: Cancelling your subscription does not delete your account or your sermon data. Your content remains accessible under the Free plan.
You retain ownership of all content you create in AltarNotes — your sermon notes, audio recordings, tags, and any other material you input ("Your Content"). We claim no ownership over Your Content.
By using the Service, you grant AltarNotes a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, process, and transmit Your Content solely to the extent necessary to provide you with the Service (for example, sending your notes to an AI model to generate insights you requested). This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account.
You are solely responsible for Your Content. You represent that you have all necessary rights to the content you submit and that it does not violate any third-party rights or applicable law.
You agree not to use AltarNotes to:
We reserve the right to investigate and take appropriate action against violations, including suspending or terminating your account.
AI outputs are for personal spiritual reflection only. AltarNotes's AI-generated insights, summaries, and quiz questions are generated automatically and may contain errors, omissions, or interpretations that do not reflect the original sermon or Scripture accurately.
You acknowledge that:
AI features are available exclusively on the AltarNotes Pro plan and are subject to fair-use rate limits to ensure quality of service for all users.
The AltarNotes name, logo, app design, and all original content created by us (excluding Your Content) are owned by AltarNotes and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works of our intellectual property without our written permission.
Nothing in these Terms grants you a right to use AltarNotes's trademarks, logos, or brand features except as expressly stated.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any AI-generated content.
AltarNotes is a personal spiritual journaling tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any church, denomination, or theological institution.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SERMONKEEP AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRIOR TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $10.
SOME JURISDICTIONS DO NOT ALLOW THE EXCLUSION OR LIMITATION OF CERTAIN WARRANTIES OR LIABILITIES, SO THE ABOVE MAY NOT APPLY TO YOU IN FULL.
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from within the app or by contacting us at support@altarnotes.com.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Service, with or without notice, if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. In the event of termination for cause, you are not entitled to a refund of any prepaid subscription fees.
Sections 6, 9, 10, 11, and 13 survive termination of these Terms.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms that cannot be resolved informally shall be submitted to the courts of the jurisdiction where AltarNotes is registered.
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via a push notification or in-app message at least 14 days before the changes take effect, and update the "Effective Date" at the top of this page.
If you continue using the Service after the updated Terms take effect, you agree to be bound by the revised Terms. If you disagree with the changes, you must stop using the Service before the effective date.
